Cleanse Companion Guide

➡️Why cleanse

Around 70% of your total energy is spent on digesting food.

We live in a toxic world designed to distract us from healthy habits.

By consuming freshly prepared superfood fruit and vegetable juices, we are freeing the gut of its digestive duties and allowing the body to enter deep cleaning mode to flush out toxins and waste.

During this process your body will be flooded with far more nutrients than it would be with your normal diet. You will be consuming around 10 POUNDS of nutrients every day. The more consecutive days you drink the juices, the deeper the cleanse goes!

Here are just a few ways you may benefit from this juice cleanse:

  • Lose weight and kick-start healthy eating habits
  • Remove built-up toxins and rehydrate the skin
  • Increase energy levels and gain mental clarity
  • Reduce inflammation and autoimmune symptoms

➡️Pre Cleanse

Set the stage for success.

Prepare your body for your juice cleanse. If you are jumping into a cleanse from an unhealthy diet such as the SAD diet (Standard American Diet), detox side effects can be minimized greatly by preparing the body beforehand. This can be done very simply by removing processed foods, incorporating more raw vegetables and fruits, and increasing water intake which is essential to detoxing the body.

Here is a simple 3 day pre-cleanse plan for a meat eater:

  • Every day drink more water - add lots of lemon to begin flushing out toxins.
  • 3 days before cleanse: stop eating meat and fish
  • 2 days before cleanse: stop eating dairy
  • 1 day before cleanse: eat only raw fruits and veggies

Generally speaking: Stop eating processed foods and animal proteins. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables. Drink more water.

➡️During the cleanse

Consistency is key.

Drink 1 juice every 2 to 3 hours. Between every juice, drink one glass of water. Rinse and repeat.

Don’t skip juice. It will create a drop in your blood sugar leaving you hungry and with a headache.

Exercise if you’re feeling the vibe. Some may be up to it, others may not. It is most important that you listen to your body - but if you can break a sweat, do it! Many of the body’s toxins are removed via sweat.

Dry brush your body to maximize the cleansing effect. Not only does it feel great, but it will facilitate a deeper cleanse by removing dead skin cells, opening your pores and allowing your body to purge more efficiently when sweating.

Make time to relax. Use meditation, music, and/or herbs to help you chill out. Let your mind wander away for a bit. Mentally check in with your body when it comes back to you.

➡️Snack ideas

When you get that feeling of hunger, a tall glass of lemon water can do wonders for curbing the thought of food.

Your body is trained to eat. Remember, the whole idea of juice fasting is to stop digestive energy and transfer it to whole body healing energy. Food will prevent you from doing this.

If needed, snacking on a few almonds or any other nuts and seeds as will help you feel full quickly. If you are going to do this, remember to eat very slowly and to stop eating as soon as you are comfortable again. Drink a glass of lemon water.

Some additional snack ideas can be an avocado with sea salt, a plain banana, or some low sodium vegetable broth.

➡️Breaking the cleanse

Easy does it.

Ease back into solid, unprocessed foods. Start with smoothies and juicy fruits. It is most important to listen to how your body responds. During this time you have an opportunity to identify food sensitivities that you may have. If you are trying to identify a food allergy, systematically add that food back into your diet.

Here is a simple 3 day post cleanse plan for a meat eater:

  • Continue drinking more water.
  • 1  day post cleanse: add smoothies and juicy fruits
  • 2 days post cleanse: add dairy
  • 3 days post cleanse: add meat

Generally speaking: gradually begin adding back in solid foods and animal products. Continue to avoid processed foods.
